CUYAHOGA VALLEY ART CENTER MEMBER EXHIBITION

THE CUYAHOGA VALLEY ART CENTER OFFERS MEMBERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A JURIED EXHIBITION IN SEVEN ART CATEGORIES

The members of the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC), 2131 Front Street Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, have been invited to enter CVAC’s 2018 Member Exhibition, to be on display in their gallery from May 29th  – June 21st. Holding a yearly member exhibition has been a tradition at CVAC for over 30 years. This year they have elevated the structure of this exhibition to their members’ advantage.

“Our member exhibition will be arranged by media in 7 different categories for submission: Watercolor Media, Water Based Media, Oil Based Media, Dry Media, Mixed Media, 3-Dimensional Media & Photographic Media.” tells Danielle Dieterich, Director of CVAC. “We offer a plethora of classes here at CVAC covering everything from watercolor, acrylic and oil painting to drawing, ceramics and woodcarving. We wanted to make sure that our Member Exhibition highlights the different art medias that our members excel in.”

In previous years, the exhibition was not juried and only one first, second and third-place winner were selected. This juried exhibition will have 7 “Best of” Category winners, 7 People’s Choice individual category winners and up to 18 honorable mentions. The juror will select a “Best of” Category winner and up to three honorable mentions for each category. A People Choice Selection process, starting May 29th, shall dictate a People’s Choice Category winner for each category, to be announced at the end of the artist reception on June 15th.

The Best of Category winners shall receive a cash prize, to be recognized and distributed at the 2018 Member Exhibition reception on June 15th from 5:30-7:00. This reception is free to the public and correlates with the Falls Downtown Fridays BeBop on the Block event. Collide: Cuyahoga Falls will also be hosting live poetry readings following this reception on the gallery level at CVAC.
