WATERCOLOR AFTERNOONS: Tuesday

TUESDAY 2:00 – 4:30 PM I APRIL 15 – JUNE 3, 2025 I (8 WKS)  

ADVANCED BEGINNER/ADVANCED with Sally Heston – A structured, project-based, watercolor class designed for beginners through advanced students.  This class meets once weekly on Tuesday afternoons.  Each week features a different lesson with an emphasis on a watercolor technique, color use, compositional device, or other approaches to watercolor based on an overall theme related to watercolor use.  Each week there will be an instructor demonstration, a constructive critique of student work, and student work time with instructor guidance, which may vary as time allows. INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY: Sally Heston

Sally Heston’s distinguished career as an artist and educator spans over four decades, marked by her exceptional versatility and expertise across various media, including graphite, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic. Heston earned her B.S. in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (cum laude) and an M.Ed. in Art from the University of Pittsburgh, establishing a solid academic foundation for her artistic journey.

As an award-winning artist, Heston’s work has been showcased in several solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions, earning her a respected place in the art community. Her artwork graces many private collections both locally and internationally, throughout the United States and Europe, a testament to her widespread acclaim and the universal appeal of her creations.

A retired elementary and secondary school art teacher, Heston also recently concluded her tenure at Virginia Marti College in Lakewood, Ohio. However, her passion for teaching continues to thrive. For over 20 years, she has been a beloved instructor at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, where she imparts her knowledge through watercolor classes as well as colored pencil, drawing, and pastel workshops.

Heston’s contributions to the art world are further highlighted by her active membership in prestigious organizations. She is a signature member of both the Ohio and Pennsylvania Watercolor Societies, as well as the Whiskey Painters of America, reflecting her high standing and commitment to her craft.

Sally Heston’s legacy is a vibrant tapestry of artistic brilliance and educational dedication, enriching the art world and inspiring countless students and art enthusiasts with her enduring passion and talent.
