CVAC is looking to showcase the talents of participating artists depictions of the Human Figure. The subject matter of the art work must be related to the human figure, all mediums are encouraged. CVAC will be accepting submissions on Friday, March 2ND from 10:00 – 7:00 PM and Saturday March 3RD from 10:00 – 2:00 PM. Cost is $30 for up to 2 entries for CVAC Members and $35 for up to 2 entries for non-CVAC members.
Professional Artist Mark Giangaspero, native of the Akron area will be the juror for CVAC’s Human Figure Exhibition. Giangaspero studied and taught under Jack Richards, of Jack Richards Studio on Front Street Mall in Cuyahoga Falls, until Richards’s untimely passing in 2014. After taking some time off, Giangaspero recently began teaching again at CVAC this past spring on Monday and Fridays. Giangaspero has shown and continues to show in National and International exhibitions such as McDonough Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art, Viewpoints at the Cincinnati Art Club, National Arts Club in New York and many others. His works “Mr. Richardson” and “Portrait of Chris” are in the Butler Institute of American Art Permanent Collection. Giangaspero shall determine the cash awards for Best of Show, Second-place and Third-place in the amount of $100, $75 & $50 sequentially, as well as up to five honorable mentions.
This exhibition opens to the public on Tuesday March 6TH. Awards will be distributed as the winners are celebrated during the Human Figure Exhibition Reception on Friday, March 23RD from 5:30-7:00 PM. Patrons will have the opportunity to mingle with the artists, enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres and purchase art during this free reception.
