The Kaleidoscope Committee has negotiated new dates for this special holiday show to give you a little more time to finish your entries. As of October 10, the Summit Artspace website has not been updated with this information. As soon as this is done, there will be a place to enter your submission. There is a Call for Artists on the home page by looking under Artists. We are extending the invitation to anyone who was a member of any of the above organizations from December 31, 2019 to September 30, 2020. The 18th KALEIDOSCOPE JURIED ART EXHIBITION

SUMMIT ARTSPACE ON E. MARKET-MAIN GALLERY
NOVEMBER 20 – DECEMBER 19, 2020
The 18th Kaleidoscope Juried Art Exhibition is an annual holiday show presented by the Alliance for the Visual Arts (AVA). This show is open to all current members (dues paid since December 31, 2019) of the society organizations of AVA: Akron Society of Artists (ASA), Artists of Rubber City (AoRC), Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC) and Women’s Art League of Akron (WAL).

Deadline: Online only. November 9, 2020 at midnight. See directions for photographing and editing BEFORE work is framed on Smartphone, camera, laptop, I Pad, PC. Work must be framed and ready to hang on November 16. When filling out the submission form, make sure you include a value for anything not for sale (for insurance purposes); although we do encourage prices on all artwork to support Summit Artspace.

Entry fee: $30.00 for up to two separate entries. Artwork must be ready for installation, framed, and wired, no saw tooth hangers. You may submit high quality digital images (.jpg, .pdf, .tiff, .png) of each artwork. The images must accurately represent the work and accepted work must be professionally presented for exhibition. Submission information has yet to be included on website. More information to come!

Notification of Acceptance: Wednesday, November 11th by midnight.
Drop Off: November 16, 2020 from 10 am to 7 pm

For those needing help: IN-PERSON help is available on Monday, November 9th from 10 am to 7 pm.
1. Fill out supplied paperwork to bring with you.
2. Drop off paperwork, check or cash and artwork to Summit Artspace Gallery. Staff will photograph work and submit paperwork.
3. After Jurying is complete, pick up unaccepted work on Monday November 16 from 10 am to 7 pm.

Opening: November 20, 2020 – *It is the intention of Summit Artspace to display this exhibition in our galleries. However, depending on government directives at the time of execution the show may be displayed virtually. If the show is displayed in our galleries as planned, the reception and exhibition will be adapted as needed to follow all health and safety guidelines. More information to come.
Awards: 1st place $200; 2nd place $150; 3rd place $100 and four honorable mentions. Juror’s Awards announced at opening. The People’s Choice Award of a hand-crafted Kaleidoscope by artist Bob Pozarski will be announced December 19 on social media and the respective organization will notify the winning artist at the close of the show. Pick Up: December 21, 2020 from 10 am to 7 pm.

Notes: Size and Weight Limits:

  • Final installation size of 2-D work cannot exceed 4’ (48”) wide by 6’ (72”) high.
  • 3-D work must not exceed 39” in diameter, nor may any single component of the work exceed 50 pounds.
  • All work must be identified (labeled) with the artist name and contact information when delivered.
  • Accepted work must be delivered ready to install. 2-D works must be appropriately wired; no saw tooth hangers.
  • Summit Artspace has a limited number of pedestals available; however, the artist may have to provide any special display fixtures required.
  • Suitability of works which must be suspended, hung in windows, requiring a power source, are especially heavy, are very large, or have other special installation requirements will be determined on an individual basis.
  • Professional installation will be provided by Summit Artspace. Care will be taken when handling and displaying all artwork, however Summit Artspace waives responsibility for either damage or loss of artwork.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are juried into the KALEIDOSCOPE EXIBITION, you must gallery sit at least one shift according to the government directives at that time. More information to come.

Summit Artspace (SA): to comply with SA requirements, a 30% gallery commission will be collected on all artwork sold during the show or during the three months following the show. All artists will be required to sign a gallery contract when delivering their accepted entries.
