The Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC) is accepting submissions to the 88th Annual Akron Society of Artists Juried Exhibition November 1st & November 2nd

CVAC is looking to showcase the talents of the Akron Society of Artists membership for their 88th Annual Juried Exhibition.  CVAC encourages submissions of all artistic mediums that meet the qualifications for hanging & displaying as listed within the prospectus. CVAC will be accepting submissions on:

Friday, Nov 1st from 10:00 – 7:00 PM &

Saturday, Nov 2nd from 10:00 – 2:00 PM

Cost is $30 for up to 3 entries for current ASA Members, at least one submission is guaranteed to be accepted into the exhibition.

This exhibition is juried, with the juror Mark Giangaspero determining accepted submissions and the cash awards for First-place, Second-place and Third-place in the amount of $300, $200 & $100 sequentially, as well as two honorable mentions at $50 each.

This exhibition opens to the public on Monday, November 4th. Awards will be distributed as the winners are celebrated during the Exhibition 88th Annual Akron Society of Artists Juried Exhibition Reception on Friday, November 15th from 5:00-7:30 PM. Patrons will have the opportunity to mingle with the artists, enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres and purchase art during this free reception.

Juror Biography:

MARK GIANGASPERO:  Professional Artist Mark Giangaspero, native of Akron & Cuyahoga Falls, studied and taught under Jack Richards, of Jack Richards Studio on Front Street Mall in Cuyahoga Falls, until his untimely passing in 2014. After taking some time off, he began teaching again at CVAC. Giangaspero has shown and continues to show in National and International exhibitions such as McDonough Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art, Viewpoints at the Cincinnati Art Club, National Arts Club in New York and many others. His works “Mr. Richardson” and “Portrait of Chris” are in the Butler Institute of American Art Permanent Collection.
