CUYAHOGA VALLEY ART CENTER: MAIN GALLERY
The Cuyahoga Valley Art Center Offers Members the Opportunity to Participate in a Juried Exhibition in Seven Art Categories
The members of the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC), 2131 Front Street Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221, have been invited to enter CVAC’s Member Exhibition, to be on display in their gallery from July 27th – August 26th. Holding a yearly member exhibition has been a tradition at CVAC for over 35 years.
This juried entry exhibition will have 7 “Best of” Category winners, 7 People’s Choice individual category winners and up to 14 honorable mentions. Juror Bruce Stebner, President of the Akron Society of Artists, will select a “Best of” Category winner and up to two honorable mentions for each category. A People’s Choice Selection process, starting July 27th, shall dictate a People’s Choice Category winner for each category, to be announced at the end of the Artists Reception on August 13th. Voting is free and encouraged to visitors.
“We were excited to bring this exhibition back after taking a hiatus last year” states Executive Director, Danielle Dieterich, “we are excited to see what everyone has been working on.” This exhibition is highly competitive with 7-12 pieces being selected per category.
The Best of Category winners shall receive a cash prize, to be celebrated and recognized at the Artists Reception on August 13th from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. This reception is free to the public and correlates with the Falls Downtown Fridays event.

Bruce Stebner Juror Statement:
Playing both judge and jury to an art exhibition is a formidable task. The two jobs can be at odds with one another. A juror tries to create a show of not only the highest quality work entered, but also the most interesting, cohesive show possible. That means some wonderful pieces can be omitted. A judge, on the other hand, is called to choose the best of the entries selected. In order to temper the unavoidable element of personal taste, every effort was made to analyze, as objectively as possible, each entry’s technical virtuosity, composition, use of color/value, and professional presentation. Ultimately, I sought clear artistic intent and meaning in choosing winning entries. So, whether your entry was included or not, won an award or not, keep on creating! We are all on this amazing journey being artists together.
It was a pleasure to see the variety of artistic expression represented in all the submissions to this show. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as your juror and judge.
