85TH ANNUAL FALL SHOW
The Women’s Art League of Akron will be hosting their 85th Annual Fall Show at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, 2131 Front Street Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. The Show will be on display from November 5th through November 29th.
Akron artist, Jessica Lofthus will serve as the juror for this exhibition, with the award winners being celebrated at the opening reception on Friday, November 9th running from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. This opening reception is free to the public.
JUROR BIOGRAPHY
Jessica Lofthus is a 3rd generation painter, who grew up surrounded by traditional landscape painters in New Mexico. She has been holding a brush since she was 8 years old and has obtained her degree in painting from the University of Texas. She is the curator for Western Reserve Hospital & the Mustard Seed Cafe and has previous experience as an art juror.

BEST OF SHOW “This sculpture is so alluring and unusual. In engaging this work, it would seem the viewer’s work of perceiving and understanding this sculpture is an easy one. However, the conceptual and design choices the artist makes leave many questions unanswered. Incorporating a traditionally nostalgic form such as a kewpie doll, into a provocative, tribal-patterned work creates a subtext that stays with the viewer. The monochromatic design and intricate beadwork continues to draw the viewer in and around the form, successfully creating a lasting dialogue regarding kitsch, culture and tribalism.
