FLUID ACRYLICS LIKE WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP

DATES/TIMES: July 13-14, 2024  9:00 – 4:00 PM

LOCATION: CUYAHOGA VALLEY ART CENTER

Expand your painting skill set by exploring the possibilities of using fluid acrylics to paint like watercolor artists.  With a watercolor-like application, students will have the opportunity to learn about this unique and versatile medium while utilizing the elements and principles of design. Working with a limited color palette, students will work from simple still-life setups and photo references to delve into this unique medium. This workshop offers beginners and experienced artists alike the opportunity to learn new techniques and be inspired by the innovative applications of fluid acrylic paints.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. Please pack your lunch for this workshop daily. If you cannot, there are local places where staff can recommend ordering boxed lunches. Students will need to pick up these lunches during their designated lunch.

  • Payment in full is due 14 days before the workshop start date.
  • All deposits, $50, are non-refundable unless CVAC cancels the workshop.
  • Refunds, less deposit, will not be issued for attendee cancelations 14 days before the workshop start date.

INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION:

Susan Mencini is a graduate of Cooper School of Art in Cleveland, Ohio, and studied at Kent State University. In college, Mencini majored in printmaking, a process that is still incorporated into their current body of work. Mencini primarily uses fluid acrylics with a transparent watercolor application. Mencini has taught at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center since 2004 and also teaches art at Cornerstone Community School in Tallmadge, Ohio. Recently, Mencini has won the Kaleidoscope Award at Summit Art Space in 2016.
