PASTEL WORKSHOP

DATES/TIMES: August 17-18, 2024  9:00 – 4:00 PM

LOCATION: CUYAHOGA VALLEY ART CENTER

COST: MEMBER $150 NON-MEMBER $175


The definition of pastel is ‘to be dry’ however, the outcomes of this medium can be anything but. This pastel workshop would cover materials (different kinds of pastels, papers, fixatives, etc.) and various styles and techniques, from the traditional to experimental. This medium offers infinite possibilities that will last a lifetime.

Students will be required to bring their own supplies, a supply list is provided below.

Supply List:

  • Pastels of any brand & any number will do
  • Five pieces of pastel paper, any kind

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. Please pack your lunch for this workshop daily. If you cannot, there are local places where staff can recommend ordering boxed lunches. Students will need to pick up these lunches during their designated lunch.

  • Payment in full is due 14 days before the workshop start date.
  • All deposits, $50, are non-refundable unless CVAC cancels the workshop.
  • Refunds, less deposit, will not be issued for attendee cancelations 14 days before the workshop start date.

INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION: Mark Giangaspero

Professional Artist Mark Giangaspero, native of Akron & Cuyahoga Falls, studied and taught under Jack Richards, of Jack Richards Studio on Front Street Mall in Cuyahoga Falls, until his untimely passing in 2014. Mark has been teaching classes and workshops at CVAC since 2017. Giangaspero has shown and continues to show in National and International exhibitions such as McDonough Museum, the Butler Institute of American Art, Viewpoints at the Cincinnati Art Club, National Arts Club in New York and many others. His works “Mr. Richardson” and “Portrait of Chris” are in the Butler Institute of American Art Permanent Collection.
