INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED with Linda Hutchinson – In this class, students will explore various methods of using oil paint to create works based on both direct observations from reality and design. The course will begin by painting simple forms and progress to more complex layouts. Two weeks will be spent on each project: one week of drawing and planning; the second week of painting. Goals include: increasing spontaneity while painting; learning to problem-solve during the painting process; and learning to self-critique. Design elements and principles will be utilized to guide studies. Possible subjects to include: still life, interior, plants, architectural elements, human figures, portraits, and landscapes. Linda Hutchinson (Drawing & Painting) has been making art for the better part of her life, originally in the greeting card and print markets, and currently through her fine art drawings and paintings. Awards include: Ohio Watercolor Society Gold Medal in 2001; First Night Akron button artist in 2008. She teaches drawing and painting at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and through continuing education programs at Kent City Schools. Her affiliations include: Akron Society of Artists; Hudson Fine Art and Framing; Ohio Arts Council; Ohio Watercolor Society; and Oil Painters of America. She holds a BA in French from Miami (OH) University.
