BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE: Step into the world of oil painting with this foundational course, ideal for newcomers or those returning to the medium. In this class, you’ll explore essential techniques and concepts, from selecting materials and mastering color theory to understanding visual composition and refining brushwork. Guided through each step, you’ll gain the confidence and skills to create beautiful, expressive works of art. Perfect for aspiring artists eager to dive into oil painting or experienced painters looking to refresh their techniques in a supportive, hands-on setting.
A supply list will be provided with the required items needed for the workshop. Class size is limited.
Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. Please pack your lunch for this workshop daily. If you cannot, there are local places where staff can recommend ordering boxed lunches. Students will need to pick up these lunches during their designated lunch.

Amy Gibson, b. 1976 in Alliance Ohio. Amy received her B.F.A from the University of Akron in 1999. She currently teaches at Cuyahoga Valley Art Center in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio and Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington NC. She also offers private lessons. Ten of her works are archived for the moon as part of the Lunar Codex Project. Her artwork has been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur and American Art Collector Magazine. She has shown in PTFN at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, Teaching Artists at the Cameron Museum of Art, and her work is Internationally collected. She loves teaching and helping people reach their goals. She is represented by 33 Contemporary Gallery in Miami.
