PORTRAIT WORKSHOP w/Mark Giangaspero

DATE: June 19th – 20th, 2021

TIME: 9:30 – 4:30 PM

LOCATION: CUYAHOGA VALLEY ART CENTER

Cost: $150 CVAC Members    $175 Non-CVAC Members

BEGINNER – ADVANCED: A portrait is not just a likeness.  This 2-day workshop will cover the artistic elements that make an outstanding portrait.  Design, composition, color, and pose are some of the elements that will be discussed.  This workshop is designed to take your portraiture to the next level.  Intermediate and advanced level students. Class size is limited.

STUDENT MATERIAL LIST:

Supply List: 

  • Oil or acrylic set or individuals (Catans, Michaels)
  • White, black, yellow, red, blue, green, violet, orange and brown. (These will have other names, but won’t matter)
  • 12 x 16 canvas board
  • Paper palette
  • Three brushes, small 1/4″ wide, medium 1/2″ wide, large 3/4″ wide
  • Mineral spirits
  • Vine or willow charcoal
  • Paper towels

MARK GIANGASPERO BIOGRAPHY:

Mark Giangaspero studied and taught visual arts under the late Jack Richards until Mr. Richards’ passing in 2014.  Mark has taught drawing and painting classes (in a variety of media) at CVAC over the past six years. He has shown his work in such prestigious galleries as the McDonough Museum (Youngstown State University), Viewpoints at the Cincinnati Art Club, the National Arts Club in New York and the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown where his pieces, Mr. Richardson and Portrait of Chris, are held in the Institute’s permanent collection.
