(Young Adults, Middle – High School level) Drawing from Life is an opportunity for students to develop their drawing skills and observational abilities through a combination of painting and drawing. Students will explore the joys of painting, sketching, and drawing both inside and outdoors. They will use a variety of materials including but not limited to pastels, acrylics, watercolor, graphite pencils, and charcoal. (different art projects than week 1)

Elise Helms is a painter and educator born in Akron, Ohio. She is a versatile fine artist with expertise in various media, but her focus lies in painting and drawing. In 2024, she received an Art Education degree with a double major in Painting and Drawing from the University of Akron’s Myers School of Art. She has a lengthy exhibition record and her paintings have been exhibited in many galleries across Ohio. She enjoys combining her love of fine art with education by working with local youth inside and outside the classroom, by leading various murals and public art projects within Akron and surrounding areas. Elise takes a well-rounded approach to education by blending traditional techniques with contemporary practices to provide a solid foundation while embracing innovation and experimentation. Her teacher-mission is dedicated to guiding students with empathy, positive feedback, and encouragement throughout their artistic journey. She aims to establish connections with students to support their unique, individual voice and creative visions. She is dedicated to fostering the young artistic community of NorthEast Ohio and nurturing a strong sense of belonging within it.
